Flow Coefficients and Jet Characteristics in Heavy Ion Collisions

چکیده
Identifying jets in heavy ion collisions is of significant interest since the properties of jets are expected to get modified because of the formation of quark gluon plasma. The detection of jets is, however, difficult because of large number of nonjet hadrons produced in the collision process. In this work we propose a method of identifying and determining the transverse momentum of jets by means of flow analysis. PACS: 12.38.Mh, 24.85.+p, 25.75.-q

Calorimetric transverse energy-energy correlations as a probe of jet quenching
The sensitivity of calorimetric energy-energy correlation function to the mediuminduced energy loss of fast partons in high multiplicity heavy ion interactions is demonstrated at the appropriate selection of events for the analysis, namely, the availability of one high-pT jet in an event at least and using the procedure of “thermal” background subtraction. Without jet trigger this correlation f...
متن کاملModeling Magnetic Field in Heavy ion Collisions Using Two Different Nuclear Charge Density Distributions
By studying the properties of matter during heavy-ion collisions, a better understanding of the Quark-Gluon plasma is possible. One of the main areas of this study is the calculation of the magnetic field, particularly how the values of conductivity affects this field and how the field strength changes with proper time. In matching the theoretical calculations with results obtained in lab, two diffe...

Measurements of strong suppression of inclusive hadron distributions and di-hadron correlations at high pT , while providing evidence for partonic energy loss, also suffer from geometric biases due to the competition of energy loss and fragmentation. The measurements of fully reconstructed jets is expected to lack these biases as the energy flow is measured independently of the fragmentation de...
متن کاملThe influence of flow on the jet quenching power in heavy-ion collisions
The flow pattern and evolution of the medium created in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions can have significant influence on the energy loss of hard partons traversing the medium. We demonstrate that within a range of assumptions for longitudinal and transverse flow which are all compatible with the measured hadronic single particle distributions, the quenching power of the medium can vary ...
متن کاملUniversal flow-driven conical emission in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions.
The double-peak structure observed in soft-hard hadron correlations is commonly interpreted as a signature for a Mach cone generated by a supersonic jet interacting with the hot and dense medium created in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions. We show that it can also arise due to averaging over many jet events in a transversally expanding background. We find that the jet-induced away-side yi...
